The Good Work (Beyond the Walls)
In 1628, Sweden launched the Vasa—a magnificent warship decorated with hundreds of hand-carved statues and 64 bronze cannons. Yet less than a mile into its maiden voyage, a light breeze tipped the ship over and sank it to the harbor floor. It was built for display, but fatally flawed on the inside. In this sermon, we open Nehemiah 5 and the letters to the seven churches in Revelation to confront a sobering truth: You can have strong spiritual walls, Christ at the center of your theology, and a beautiful church environment, yet completely fail the test of true faith if your heart is cold toward the hurting, the poor, and the broken around you. The unbelieving world isn’t reading our Bibles—they are reading how we treat them. Join us as we examine how Jesus inspects His temple, why material success without spiritual integrity is deep poverty, and how to shift from being decorated on Sunday to actively deployed as an ambassador for Christ on Monday.
