Test Reveal What's True

In Judges 2:21–3:2, God reveals a startling divine strategy: instead of eradicating every enemy from the Promised Land, He intentionally left hostile nations behind to test Israel’s allegiance and teach warfare to a generation that had never seen battle. Drawing from an unforgettable high school wrestling lesson—being caught in a chokehold only to hear the coach say, “You can’t talk if you can’t breathe”—this message delivers hope to anyone feeling spiritually or emotionally suffocated by life’s trials. The opposition in front of you is not evidence that God has abandoned the room, nor is it designed to destroy you; it is a divine mirror exposing what lies beneath the surface and a training ground forging spiritual endurance. Just as rough stones in a tumbler are refined into smooth gems (1 Peter 1:6–7), our battles are meant to build spiritual muscle. Yet Israel's great tragedy was choosing convenient compromise over costly obedience—trying to manage their enemies through forced labor rather than driving them out. When life has you pinned to the mat, remember that if you still have breath in your lungs, the Coach is still in control, using today’s furnace not to crush your faith, but to teach your hands to fight.
